Line 6 Pod Farm 2 is a software product that can either be used as a plug-in in a DAW or as a stand-alone application. If you are currently using Farm 2 I recommend upgrading to version 2.5 or Farm 2.5 Platinum! Most of the time I use it it in Cubase 5 or Reaper, I have only used it in Logic 1 time and really didnвЂ™t like using it in that DAW so I never did it again though it did work fine and will work fine as long as you are using version 9.2 in Logic.

You can run Farm 2 or 2.5 on a Mac or a PC as a RTAS, AU, or a VST. I can load up several different instances of it without having to worry about it getting slow or crashing on me in my DAW. I was very surprised on how well 2.5 has been on my CPU too. I can just open up Farm 2.5 and start playing. Version 2.5 has allowed me to use it has a standalone version and not even have load up my DAW. There are not any small hard to read text and a bunch of sub menus. There is even a search bar at the top where you can do a search to bring the styles you are looking for. But as far as the sounds that you can use, they are all set up in a simple easy to understand system that are categorized by source folders and then put into another window by вЂњnameвЂќ вЂњAuthorвЂќ and вЂњtypeвЂќ.

The interface is not the easiest interface to use and it has took me some time to get use to it even when I was using the standard version 2 and just purchased it I was spending some time reading through the manual to get the swing of things before I just dove right in and started using it. Version 2.5 has some flexible digital processing that will give a wider and fuller range of tones when using it. More advanced players seeking a specific tone would probably be more pleased by a nice tube amp, but wouldn't be dissapointed by the variety that could be achieved with the one piece of hardware.The Line 6 POD Farm 2 is a tone plug in, I have recently upgraded to POD Farm 2.5 after using Farm 2 for quite some time. I'd deffinitely recommend it for beginning/intermediate player without a clear cut style that just wants to have tons of decent options to play around with. Of course it's not nearly as nice as a tube amp, but i'd say it gets a solid B+ across the board. Own two of them (the 20+ and the 40+, in different locations) because they (like most modeling amps) have a very decent range of tones with no pedals required (they're basically built in). Yamaha have sized it perfectly for what it's intended to do. In the end, if you need to fill a bigger space than my little flat, then you're going to need more horsepower. The thr won't do that.ДЄn upside is it can run off batteries, I bought a set of rechargables and it's very convenient to carry it around anywhere without tangling in a power lead. I think a 40w amp could cover a small venue, like a coffee shop, if you were were performing. Much more convenient.ДЄs for power, I've never had it turned up full, even in the middle of the day when noone else is home.

It's a little bigger than a loaf of bread, it can fit on the bookshelf, or in the draw under the TV unit. What made me walk out with the yamaha was the size. Turns out, the're pretty big, even 'practice' amps are 40-50cm square. This is my first electric and I had no idea how big amps would be. I originally wanted the fender mustang, even went into the shop looking for it.

The ID series from Blackstar is the best I've found so far. Modeling technology is getting better and better. The amp has punchy lows, crisp mids and it's really brought out the best in all my guitars (settings vary quite a bit from guitar to guitar) - very customizable. But the delays and reverbs are great and that's all I generally use. It's built in chorus and flanger is alright at best and the tremolo effect is awful. You then choose your drive level (warm clean, bright clean, crunch1/2, overdrive 1/2). Instead of emulating different amps as so many do, it emulates tubes - 6 popular guitar amp tubes to choose from. This is (IMHO) the best modeling amp on the market. Well, I ended up leaving with the amp and no guitar. The salesman recommended the Blackstar ID260. I play a lot of different styles and wanted to see how the guitars would work with each. And am way too lazy to set them all up every time I play live (3-5 times a week).ДЄbout 6 months ago I was trying out guitars at a local shop and asked the salesman for a modeling amp. No options and I dont own a lot of pedals.

I love the tone (still own it) but it was really just that chimey clean tone I loved. I still use it as a bedroom amp and for that it's perfect. It just couldn't cut it in love situations and, really, the tone wasn't there. I own a Line 6 Spyder that was my primary amp for a long time.
